MEV-WEB compliant POS: a sales recording system ready for Revenu Québec

The InnoBooks till records every sale and sends every receipt to Revenu Québec through MEV-WEB, with no box wired to the till. Offline, it keeps selling and sends the batch once the network is back. InnoBooks is MEV-WEB compliant; its certification with Revenu Québec is in progress.

MEV web, MEV-WEB, SEV: what are we talking about?

The SEV — sales recording system — is Revenu Québec's requirement to record every sale and send it the receipts. MEV-WEB is its Internet version: where the old MEV was a physical module wired between the till and the printer, MEV-WEB relies on point-of-sale software that sends every transaction itself, signed with a digital certificate.

Who is covered, and from when, is set and updated by Revenu Québec. Check your situation on revenuquebec.ca or with your accountant: no software replaces that official answer.

  • No MEV box to wire in: the till sends the data itself
  • Every receipt signed with your digital certificate
  • Sectors handled by InnoBooks: restaurants and bars, paid passenger transportation

A MEV-WEB compatible SEV, built into the till

An MEV-WEB business rings up its sales in the InnoBooks POS app, on a phone or tablet. It produces the receipt, sends it to Revenu Québec and shows the confirmation. The web till is deliberately blocked for these businesses: no sale can go through a non-compliant door.

In restaurants, every receipt carries the required service type — counter, table, your own delivery or delivery platform — and the tip is reported in the right field.

  • Receipt sent to Revenu Québec in real time
  • Web till blocked for MEV-WEB businesses
  • Service type and tip reported on every receipt
  • Training mode: receipts are marked TRAINING, so you can train staff without skewing your data

Internet goes down? The sale goes on

Offline, the till keeps producing receipts and queues them. When the network comes back, the next sale carries the pending receipts automatically, or you send the batch with one button. If Revenu Québec cannot be reached, offline mode switches on by itself: the queue never holds up the customer at the counter.

  • Counter of transactions waiting to be sent
  • « Send now » to push the batch
  • Automatic switch when Revenu Québec cannot be reached
  • Every offline and back-online switch is logged

Duplicate, reproduction, cancellation, refund: compliant

Reprinting a receipt, cancelling it or refunding a sale are events Revenu Québec wants to see. In the till's receipt list, each action has its own button and produces the right transaction: a duplicate is marked as such, and cancellations and refunds are sent and logged.

  • Duplicate and reproduction marked on the receipt
  • Cancellation sent to Revenu Québec
  • Refund and credit note tracked
  • Search by number, date and payment method

SEV journal and transmission dashboard

The dashboard counts confirmed, pending and failed transactions, and resends what is waiting in one click. The SEV journal records every compliance event — success, error, cancellation, refund, going offline, price change — with Revenu Québec's code and message.

The user report (SW-73) is produced from InnoBooks, as a PDF, and your transaction data can be exported for your records or your accountant.

  • Confirmed / Pending / Failed counters
  • « Resend pending » in one click
  • Filterable SEV journal, exportable as CSV or PDF
  • SW-73 user report as a PDF
  • Transaction export as CSV or JSON

Setting up MEV-WEB in InnoBooks

Everything is set on a single page: SEV identifier and authentication key, business sector, GST and QST numbers checked with Revenu Québec, then the digital certificate request, made from InnoBooks. As it nears expiry, InnoBooks warns you so you can replace it in time.

  • Tax numbers checked with Revenu Québec
  • Digital certificate requested from InnoBooks
  • Warning before the certificate expires
  • MEV-WEB user accounts for employees

Moving from the old MEV to MEV-WEB with InnoBooks

The move takes a few steps, with no proprietary hardware: a phone or tablet for the till, a network receipt printer if you print, and your tax identifiers. The MEV-WEB module is part of the Point of sale add-on.

Status: InnoBooks is MEV-WEB compliant, and its certification with Revenu Québec is in progress.

  • 1. Confirm with Revenu Québec that you are covered, and from when
  • 2. Turn on the Point of sale add-on and install the POS app
  • 3. Gather your GST, QST, NEQ and billing file numbers
  • 4. Set up MEV-WEB and request the digital certificate
  • 5. Ring up a test sale in training mode, then sell
