Work offline and transmit late receipts

3 min read

A dropped connection should never block a sale. In the InnoBooks POS app, MEV-WEB offline mode keeps producing receipts and queues them; when you’re back online, they’re transmitted to Revenu Québec. This guide covers the status pill, queueing, and how to transmit the late batch.

MEV-WEB — Offline mode screen in the InnoBook POS app
MEV-WEB — Offline mode: the connection status with Revenu Québec, the transactions awaiting transmission and the offline mode switch.

What you’ll need

  • The POS add-on active and MEV-WEB configured for the company (otherwise the screen shows MEV-WEB is not configured for this company.).
  • The InnoBooks POS app open on the selling device.
  • An Internet connection to transmit the queued receipts.

Steps

  1. Find the MEV-WEB status pill

In the POS app’s top bar, a pill shows Online (green) or Offline (amber), with a badge for the number of queued transactions. Tap it to open the MEV-WEB — Offline mode screen.

  2. Read the status and pending count

The status card sums up the situation. Online: Receipts are transmitted to Revenu Québec in real time. Offline: Receipts are queued and will be transmitted when you go back online. Just below, a counter shows how many transactions are awaiting transmission.

  3. Turn on offline mode (if needed)

Flip the Offline mode switch to Queue receipts locally instead of transmitting them right away. The mode also turns on automatically if Revenu Québec can’t be reached: you don’t have to do anything, sales carry on.

  4. Go back online

When the connection returns, turn the Offline mode switch off. While you’re offline, the transmit button stays unavailable and a reminder appears: Go back online to transmit the queued receipts.

  5. Transmit the late batch

Once online, tap Transmit now to send the queued batch; a message confirms how many transactions were transmitted. You can also do nothing: the next sale automatically bundles the queued receipts and sends them along with it.

Tips & edge cases

  • Automatic switch: if Revenu Québec can’t be reached, offline mode turns on by itself and receipts are queued — the sale is never blocked.
  • Automatic bundling: once back online, the next sale carries the queued receipts along; “Transmit now” is mainly for clearing the batch without waiting for the next sale.
  • Transmit after going back online: the Transmit now button is intentionally inactive while offline mode is on; turn it off first.
  • Receipt notice: a receipt produced during a communication problem shows the COMMUNICATION PROBLEM notice.
  • Tracking: offline / online switches are recorded in the SEV Journal, where you can find them afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

Are my sales blocked if I lose Internet?

No. While offline, the SEV keeps producing receipts and queues them. They’re transmitted when you go back online, automatically with the next sale or manually with “Transmit now”.

How do I transmit the queued receipts?

First go back online (turn the “Offline mode” switch off), then tap “Transmit now”. Otherwise, the next sale automatically bundles and sends the queued batch.

Does offline mode turn on by itself?

Yes. If Revenu Québec can’t be reached, the app automatically switches to offline mode and queues receipts, with no action from you.
