Your GST/QST return figures, already added up

InnoBooks adds up the GST and QST collected on your invoices and at the till, and the tax you paid on your expenses, for the period you pick. You see the net amount, tax by tax, and export it to PDF or CSV.

Collected, paid, net: tax by tax

The summary adds up the tax collected on your invoices and on your till sales, and the tax paid on your expenses. For each tax — GST, QST or a local tax — it shows the three amounts, then the total: what you collected, what you paid, and the difference.

A positive net amount is what you still have to remit. A negative one shows in red: over the period, you paid more tax than you collected.

  • Tax collected: your invoices, drafts excluded, and your till receipts
  • Tax paid: the tax on your expenses
  • One line per tax, and a total
  • Amounts rounded to the cent, tax by tax

The period you file, in PDF or CSV

Pick the start date and the end date: the month, quarter or year that matches how often you file. The summary recomputes for that period.

Export it to PDF to keep with your supporting documents, or to CSV for your accountant. You then carry the amounts into your return with Revenu Québec: InnoBooks prepares the figures, it does not file the return for you.

The tax on your expenses, without retyping it

Tax paid comes from your expenses. Take a photo of a receipt: the automatic reading finds the GST and QST amounts in the totals and puts them on the expense, which you check before saving it.

Each supplier keeps its own taxes and tax numbers, and the supplier taxes report shows you who charged you what.

  • GST and QST amounts read from a photographed receipt
  • Taxes and tax numbers per supplier
  • Supplier taxes report, in PDF and CSV

Your taxes, set up once

You enter your taxes once — GST at 5 %, QST at 9.975 % — with your registration numbers. Each tax carries its type, GST, QST or other, and each item knows which taxes apply to it: the invoice and the till work them out on their own.

  • Tax type: GST, QST or other
  • Taxes chosen item by item

Where the summary lives

The sales tax summary sits in the Accounting module, next to the balance sheet and the general ledger. It is part of the Elite plan. Your fiscal year start is set in the preferences, along with the base currency.
