Stripe processes card payments in InnoBooks — at the counter on a reader, and for the orders placed on your online store. You connect your Stripe account from the settings: the sign-up happens at Stripe, there is no API key to copy, and your payouts go straight to your own bank account.
What you need
- Administrator access to your company in InnoBooks. Other roles see a message asking them to contact an administrator.
- The information Stripe asks for during onboarding: business, identity and bank account.
- Your business address filled in InnoBooks, if you plan to register a card reader.
Steps
- Open the Stripe payments page
From the menu, open
Settings, thenStripe payments. As long as no account is linked, the page showsConnect your Stripe accountand the reminder that there is no API key and no webhook to configure. - Click « Connect with Stripe »
You leave InnoBooks for a form hosted by Stripe: business, identity, bank account. You can stop and resume it later. Once it is done, Stripe brings you back to InnoBooks and a message confirms the account is connected.
- Check the state of your account
The page then shows
Your Stripe account is connected, the account identifier, the last synchronisation time and two indicators:PaymentsandPayouts, each eitherActiveorPending. Payouts staying pending for a while is normal — Stripe is finishing its checks. TheOpen the Stripe dashboardbutton takes you to your account at Stripe. - Resume onboarding if Stripe asks for more
If something is missing, the page shows
Onboarding is not finishedand explains in plain words what Stripe expects — identity document, business address, bank account, verification under way… TheResume onboardingbutton only appears when there is actually something for you to provide; otherwise everything is settled from your Stripe dashboard. - Register your card reader (if you take payments at the counter)
In the
Terminal readersection, openRegister a new reader. On the reader itself, go toSettings > Generate pairing codeand copy the code shown (three dash-separated words, such assepia-cerulean-orynx) intoRegistration code. The reader is then discovered automatically and ready to take payments. - If you were already using your own API keys (existing merchants)
Connect the Stripe account you already use: same account, same history, same payouts. Nothing stops while you connect it, and your payments switch over as soon as the account is active. One thing has to be redone afterwards: register your reader again, as in the previous step. Your old keys are no longer used; you can remove them with
Delete the stored keyswhenever you want.
Tips & edge cases
- A reader belongs to a single Stripe account at a time. Registering it on your connected account removes it from the previous one: that is intended, and moving it back works the same way.
- The reader shows the pairing code in its own language. If yours is set to French and the code contains accented words, switch it to English for the time of the registration.
- Your business address is used to create the Stripe location of the reader: if it is incomplete, the registration will tell you before going any further.
- Stripe's processing fees apply as usual, and Stripe collects them as usual.
- The
Legacy API keys (advanced)section only appears for companies that already have keys stored.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to create a new Stripe account?
No. If you already have one, connect it as-is: you keep your history, your payouts and your dashboard. If you do not have one, Stripe's form creates it during onboarding.
Where does the money go?
To your Stripe account, then to the bank account you declared to Stripe. InnoBooks never holds your money.
Do payments stop while I connect the account?
No. Your payments keep going through your current setup and switch to the connected account as soon as it is active.
What happens if I delete my API keys?
Nothing for your payments: they already go through the connected account. The keys were only kept as a safety net.
