Print product labels

3 min read

The InnoBook POS app prints product labels on a Brother QL label printer: name, weight, ingredients, allergens, packaged/best-before dates, price and barcode. This guide covers choosing the printer, filling in the label fields, previewing and printing. Labels use a 62 mm roll.

What you’ll need

  • A Brother QL label printer (e.g. QL-810W) on the same Wi-Fi network as the device
  • The item open in the app (Articles screen > open an item), the Label tab
  • Brother label rolls (62 mm)

Steps

  1. Open an item’s Label tab

From Articles, open a product and go to the Label tab. At the top, the app shows the active printer or No printer selected.

  2. Choose the label printer

Tap Choose printer. The app scans for Brother printers on the network; tap the one you want. If none appear (No printer found. Check Wi-Fi or enter IP manually.), use Manual IP entry: enter a Printer name and the IP, then Use this printer. A previously used printer shows as Remembered with Reuse.

  3. Fill in the label fields

Fill in what should appear: Instruction, Ingredients, Allergens, the Keep cold toggle, the Manufacturing date and Best-before (days) (the best-before date is computed from the two). Weight is in grams. The Price comes from the item’s price.

  4. Add a barcode (or let it generate one)

In Barcode, leave it empty to auto-generate one: Leave empty to auto-generate (EAN-13). You can also type an existing code. This barcode is then used to scan the product at checkout.

  5. Check the preview and print

The Preview section shows the label as it will print (logo, name in capitals, weight, ingredients, allergens, (PACKAGED ON / BEST BEFORE), price and barcode). Set the label Quantity, then tap Print label. The Print sent message confirms it.

Tips & edge cases

  • The label printer is separate from the receipt printer: in the receipt-printer list, a Brother QL carries a LABEL tag — don’t pick it for receipts.
  • The printer choice is Remembered per device; tap Reuse to pick it again, or Forget to clear it.
  • The Brother 62 mm roll is continuous: a text-heavy label grows longer instead of being cut off.
  • Setting Quantity above 1 prints several identical copies at once.

Frequently asked questions

The app doesn’t detect my label printer.

Make sure the Brother QL is powered on and on the same Wi-Fi as the device (some networks block auto-discovery). Then use “Manual IP entry”: type the printer’s IP address, then “Use this printer”.

What barcode is printed if I leave the field empty?

An EAN-13 code is auto-generated. You can also type an existing code; the preview shows the matching barcode.

Where do the price and weight on the label come from?

The price comes from the item’s price. The weight is what you type in the Weight field (in grams) on the Label tab.
