In the InnoBook POS app, you can find an item by name or barcode instead of browsing categories. This guide covers quick search on the grid and scanning with a barcode reader. The result is added straight to the cart.

What you’ll need
- An open POS session for your company
- Items shown in the POS, ideally with a
Barcodeon their label - Optional: a barcode reader (USB or Bluetooth) that behaves like a keyboard
Steps
- Search quickly from the grid
On the category screen, the search field (
Scan a barcode or search for a product...) filters live: type a name or code and matching products appear in a grid. Tap one to add it — the search then clears for the next entry. - Scan a barcode
With a reader, scan the code straight on the POS screen: because it types the digits very fast, the app recognizes an exact barcode, adds the product to the cart automatically and scrolls the screen to it.
- Pick a result with the keyboard
In the window, the
↑↓arrows move the selection,⏎(Enter) adds the highlighted product, andEsccloses. These shortcuts are handy with a physical keyboard on a tablet register.
Tips & edge cases
- Name search ignores accents and case: “creme” finds “Crème”.
- Barcode search uses the codes set on each item’s
Labeltab — see the label-printing guide to add them. - If nothing matches, the app shows
No product found. - Scanning the same product twice increases its quantity in the cart.
Frequently asked questions
My scan doesn’t add anything to the cart.
The product must carry that exact barcode on its label and be shown in the POS. Check the code on the item’s Label tab. If the reader isn’t in “keyboard” mode, the app doesn’t receive the keys fast enough to recognize a code.
Can I search by SKU or by price?
Search covers the product name and its barcode. To find an item, type part of its name or scan its code.
Do I need a reader to scan?
A reader speeds up checkout, but you can also type the barcode by hand in the search field, or simply search by name.
