InnoBooks’ image search helps you find an expense from a photo. You drop a product image, InnoBooks analyzes it to pull out keywords, then searches your own expense receipts and invoices for the matching documents — complete with the price found. You can also search by text and filter by supplier or date range. Here’s how to do it.
What you’ll need
- Expenses with their documents (receipts or invoices) already uploaded to InnoBooks.
- A photo or image of the product to find (image files only), or simply a word to search for.
- Access to
Expensesin InnoBooks.

From the menu, open
Expenses, thenImage Search(the menu label). TheSearch Expenses by Imagepage opens and its image drop zone appears at the top.

Tips & edge cases
- The search runs over your own expense documents (receipts and invoices already uploaded), not the internet or a product catalog.
- You can run a text-only search, without an image: the
Searchbutton becomes active as soon as an image or some text is present. - Combine the image, text,
Date rangeandSupplierto zero in on a specific purchase. - The
Price foundand item name come from the lines recognized in the document — handy for finding what you paid.
Frequently asked questions
Does image search look on the internet?
No. It analyzes the image you drop to pull out keywords, then searches only your expense documents (receipts and invoices already saved in InnoBooks). It shows you where the product appears in your receipts, with the Price found.
Can I search without a photo?
Yes. Type text into the field (for example coffee) and click Search. The button becomes active as soon as an image or some text is provided. You can also combine an image and text.
How do I limit the search to a supplier or a date range?
Use the Date range and Supplier filters below the image zone before running the search. By default, all suppliers are included (All suppliers).
